‘Events in Spain, Portugal indicative of Leader’s divinely inspired insight’
TEHRAN, May 23 (MNA) -- Senior lawmaker Alaeddin Boroujerdi has said the developments taking place in Spain and Portugal indicate the Supreme Leader’s divinely inspired insight into the political developments in the world.
Protests have recently erupted in Spain and Portugal against high unemployment and austerity measures.
The prediction that the Leader had made about the spread of awakening in the Middle East and North Africa to Europe is proving correct, Boroujerdi, who is the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.
On May 4, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said, “The people’s awakening in the Middle East and North Africa is the continuation of the Iranian nation’s great movement, and this awakening will certainly spread to the heart of Europe.”
Boroujerdi added that the Leader’s prediction was similar to those that the late Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic, had made about the collapse of communism at the time.
The Leader’s prediction raised this question in the mind of many people that how it is possible that the developments in the region and North Africa will spread to Europe, the senior lawmaker stated.
“However, the developments occurring in Spain and Portugal are indicative of the Leader’s divinely inspired insight. The events, which have taken place in part of Europe, are politically important,” Boroujerdi observed.
Obama’s remarks are distracting
Asked about U.S. President Barack Obama’s foreign policy speech on Thursday, Boroujerdi said that his remarks are distracting.
“Obama should open his eyes to the realities,” he said, adding that the U.S. president made attempts to justify the wrong approach that the United States has adopted toward the uprisings in the region.
The U.S. has always been seeking to undermine security in the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added.
Iran has supremacy over U.S.
In reply to a question about the fact that the Iranian intelligence service has broken up a spy network linked to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and arrested 30 U.S.-linked spies, Boroujerdi said that the U.S. is using any means to recruit domestic elements in the country as spies.
However, Iran enjoys intelligence supremacy over the U.S. activities, he concluded.
