S. Korea's boat fair to lure prominent world boat makers

HWASEONG (Yonhap) - Hundreds of world-renowned boat makers and other marine leisure companies are expected to take part in an international boat exhibition slated to open in South Korea next month, the organizer of the event said Tuesday.
The Korea International Boat Show 2011 will take place on June 8-12 in waters off Hwaseong, 45 kilometers southwest of Seoul, according to the Gyeonggi provincial administration.
The fair, which celebrates its fourth year, will lure a total of 352 local and overseas manufacturers, dealers and investors of boats, and other marine leisure gears, including French-based boat maker Beneteau, it said.
Other participants include U.S. boat makers Larson and Cobalt as well as Bellingham Marine from Australia.
In order to accommodate growing demand for exhibitions and investment, this year's showroom space has been expanded to some 11,200 square meters, which is 800 square meters larger than the previous year, according to the organizer.

"Global marine leisure firms' interest in the international boat show in Gyeonggi Province is on the rise," an official of the administration said.
"The province will make every effort to make the Gyeonggi international boat show South Korea's leading marine exhibition event and the global hub for international water sports networks."
