HE Minister for Business & Trade Inaugurates QITCOM 2011 in Doha
Doha, MAY 24 (QNA)- HE Minister for Business and Trade Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani inaugurated at the Doha Exhibition Center here on Tuesday the ICT conference and exhibition (QITCOM) focusing on innovation and the sharing of new ideas that has set the industry abuzz. The opening ceremony was also attended by HE Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani .
The event was inaugurated in the presence of VIPS including Rashid Al Nauimi, Vice President of the Qatar Foundation and Chairman of MEEZA; Supreme Council for Information Technology (ictQATAR) Secretary General Dr. Hessa sultan Al Jaber and Ambassadors and Consuls.
After the VIP opening of the event, HE the Minister for Business and Trade was then escorted by Rashid Al Nauimi, the Vice President of the Qatar Foundation and ictQATAR Secretary General Dr Hessa Sultan Al Jaber and other VIPS on a tour of the exhibition.
This will run concurrently with the conference and will set the agenda for key issues in the ICT debate and become a platform for new ideas in the ICT industry regionally and internationally for the next 12 months.
Hundreds of VIPS and ICT industry leaders attended the official opening of the event which is set to become a platform and forum for innovation in the region with more than 15,000 visitors expected, new technologies and start-ups announced and a raft of high profile agreements and contracts signed by the industry s biggest names throughout the event.
Taking place at Doha Exhibition Center May 24 and to run to 26, 2011, QITCOM 2011 is championing the theme of Innovate, Connect and Transform and is featuring not only the latest technologies but also the leading thinkers and innovators in the global ICT industry.
The keynote speakers for day one of the event, organized by IFP Qatar in partnership with ictQATAR, included Dr Hessa Al Jaber and author and founder of Alltop.com Guy Kawasaki.
In his speech about the "Art of Innovation", Kawasaki in turn laid out the strategic steps to create new products and services by calling upon his experience with Apple, as well as his study of dozens of world-class companies. Mr. Kawasaki made another appearance later in the day with a signing session for his bestselling book Enchantment.(
