QNA's Training Course on Economic News Editing Concludes- for Local Press
Doha, May 24 (QNA) - A specialized training course on economic news writing and editing carried out at the wise directives of Qatar News Agency (QNA) director general HE Sheikh Jabor bin Yusuf bin Jassim Al Thani concluded here on Tuesday.
The three-day function, falling within the series of training courses, organised by the QNA's Media Relations Department with a view to enhancing and training those working in the media field in the state of qatar, was attended by a number of trainees working with the public relations departments in each of qatar petroleum (QP), Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFNA) .
A number of media men and journalisats from QNA and other local newspapers also attended the course ,suprevised by Joe Lauria , a U.S.journalist working with '' Wall Street Journal''. In his lectures, Lauria focussed on principles and methods of economic news editing as far as technical and scientifici aspects are concerned.
The course also included a practical training on several news editing and drafting of news releases as per the international standards effective in US and other media newspapers and media organs.
In an address he gave at the end of the course, Head of the QNA's English News Editng Section Jassim Al Hammadi expressed thanks to the lecturer and the attendants who have much enriched the discussion and contributed to materializing the cherished targets of the course.
For his part, Director of the QNA's Media Relations Department Ahmed Mohamed Al-Buainein conveyed in a similar address thanks to lecturer and the attendants and asked them to offer their proposals concerning topics to be debated in similar courses QNA organises later.
Then relevant training course's attendance certificates were distributed to the participants who praised the highly organised course and the excellency of the lecturer who provided them with his widescale expertise prolonging for 38 years in several renown newspapers and news agencies such as Sunday Times and German News Agency /DPA/ in New York.
A female attendant underlined in turn ,the significance of such training courses which provide ample opportunities to the Qatari media men to upgrade and enhance their professional level and how best to benefit from the corresponding media experiments.(
