QCCI Delegation Meets a Pakistani Delegation

Doha , May 24 (QNA) - A Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) delegation met here on Tuesday with a Pakistani delegation representing the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) to discuss the bilateral trade relations and means of enforcing them as well as matters related to the import of rice, its quality and types.
QCCI Board Member Mohammed Ahmed Al Obaidli said that there are a lot of Qatari Businessmen who want to establish real partnerships with their Pakistani counterparts in the agricultural and food products fields, highlighting the chamber's readiness to back cooperation between the two parties.
On the Pakistani side, the delegation led by Taufiq Ahmed Khan, the Vice-Chairman of REAP, praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and Pakistan. He also praised the renaissance and remarkable progress Qatar has been witnessing in all fields. He said that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in rice is around $50 million.
Members of REAP are around 1500 spread all over Pakistan, according the association's website. It also states in the website that REAP has replaced India as the source for rice Basmati in Europe and exported a total of two million tons of rice in 1997.
