Films on Al-Shaheen Oil Field Receives International Interest

Doha, May 25 (QNA) - Two documentary films about Al-Shaheen oil field, the largest offshore oil fields in Qatar, have received a broad international interest after they won international film awards in the World Film Festival in Houston, the United States, and the World Media Festival in Hamburg, Germany.
The two films were developed by Maersk Qatar and Qatar Petroleum with the aim to provide a comprehensive and deep overview about the global criteria employed in the implementation of processes in the field, the technical potentials and environmental management programs adopted in it.
The first film "Setting new standards" was produced to be displayed in the United Nations Conference on climate change last year, which was held in the city of Cancun, Mexico, to shed light on Qatar's role in the field of sustainable development projects and reduction greenhouse gas emissions.
The has won the Gold Award for the category of nuclear and energy issues in the World Film Festival in Houston, and the Gold Award for the category of technology in the field of public relations in World Media Festival in Hamburg.
The second film "Al-Shaheen Challenges" cites the history of the Al-Shaheen field, which was initially considered a challenging and unavailing oil field to become today the largest offshore field of oil production in Qatar.
The work won a Platinum Award in the category of nuclear and energy issues of the World Film Festival in Houston. (QNA)
