QNA Celebrates 36th Inception Anniversary
Doha, May 25 (QNA) - Qatar News Agency (QNA) marks its 36th Anniversary today as it keeps pace with enormous developments in the field of communications and information technology, which reflected positively on its productions of news, books, pictures, reports and journalism courses.
QNA which was established in 1975 has achieved a great progress at different levels, individual, professional and technological, which developed the quality and quantity of its bulletin.
Year after year the number of QNA's staff has expanded and it began using modern equipment and established a network of correspondents abroad.
To prove its presence in the system of Arab and World News Agencies, QNA became a member in the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA).
The Emiri Decision issued on 13 September, 2007 organizing the agency shows the keenness of the political leadership and its interest in media in order to fulfill its role in the best manner in terms of getting accurate information from different internal and external sources, redistributing and marketing these news locally and abroad, as well as analyzing news and information, preparing commentaries and studies and contributing to spreading media awareness to help in rising and consolidating media professionalism in the country.
The agency's new structure aims at strengthening its role to introduce Qatar in various fields in the international arena, establish relations with various media organs and personalities abroad and organize their visit to the State, in addition to exchanging and transferring services and cooperation with local, Arab and international media organs, as well as covering local and international events and preparing them for distribution, documentation and marketing. Not to forget the preparation of studies, research and special publications and provision of video and audio news services. The agency also provides media services to various state media organs through correspondents at home and abroad.
The daily news bulletin is basically aggregated from a network of reporters in the major Arab and international capitals and delegates inside the country who cover all national and official events.
The agency also has a dedicated service that covers GCC, Arab and international radio and television broadcasts. In addition, QNA has contracted several agreements for news exchange with Arab and foreign news agencies.
In 1994, QNA launched its Website page to cope with the technological progress. on November 30, 2010 it launched a new, outstanding and leading news service for kids entitled ''qnakids'' on its website, to be added to QNA's four current bulletins, namely the political, economic, cultural and sports news bulletins.
It also began broadcasting news services at the social network site (Twitter) on May 11, after the great success and the widespread achieved by QNA page on Facebook since its inauguration in March.
This came in the framework of the Agency's ongoing efforts to develop its various news services and keep pace with modern technologies in the field of media and communication.
