Qatar Hoists GCC Flag at All its Outlets Marking 30th GCC Anniversary
Doha, May 24 (QNA) - As part of joint cooperation among the GCC members and in completion to the march of supporting integration among the Cooperation Council For The Arab States Of The Gulf (GCC) member states marking the 30th anniversary of
(GCC) , ceremonies were held here on Wednesday morning for hoisting the flag of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) and that of the State Of Qatar at the country's land, sea and air border posts at 10 a.m., and the other GCC members did likewise.
The flag hoisting ceremonies held at Doha International Airport were attended by HE the Director General Of Public Security Maj.Gen. Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi . The step also carried out at Abu Samra Land border post was also coincided with similar steps carried out at all the outlets in the GCC members .
Speaking to reporters following the ceremony, HE Al Kulaifi said ,'' hoisting the GCC flag comes in implementation of the GCC ministerial council resolution adopted at its 118th session held in Abu Dhabi , the UAE in March , 2011 and in enforcing the resolution adopted by the GCC Supreme Council in its 31st session held in Abu Dhabi , in December, 2010.
Maj.Gen. Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi noted that the GCC flag would take the legal character and be dealt in the same manner of the state's national flag in cases of flying and hanging at half mast, pointing out the event aims to ehance and strengthen spirit of cooperation between the GCC members.
For his part, Ambassador Eissa Al Jaber, the Director of the GCC Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry said the hoisting of the GCC flag at the country's land, sea and air border posts would help enhance the march of the GCC and give prominence to the joint cooperation among its members .
Ambassador Eissa Al Jaber pointed out that there is a proposal for hoisting the GCC flag not only at the land, sea and air border posts but also at over places inside the GCC member states noting however that the presence of the GCC members' flags beside that of the GCC constitutes a good step to further enhance the march of integration among the GCC members. This coincides with the 30th celebration anniversary of the inception of the GCC and in implementation of the GCC ministerial council resolution adopted at its 118th session held in Abu Dhabi , the UAE in March , 2011 and in revitalizing and enforcing of the resolution adopted by the GCC supreme council in its 31st session held in Abu Dhabi , in December, 2010.
Under a resolution by the 31st session of the GCC Supreme Council meeting, held in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, last December, the GCC flag shall be hoisted at the border points of the GCC member states on May 25 as part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the GCC.
