QUAKE HITS WEST SUMATRA

Padang, W Sumatra, Sept 8 (ANTARA) - A 5.6 magnitude undersea earthquake rattled the western coast of West Sumatra province late Monday but there was no immediate report of casualty nor material damage.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 5.43 p.m. was located 43 km northeast of North Pagai on the Mentawai Islands in a depth of 20 km, spokesperson for the Padang Panjang Meteorology and Geophysics Office M Fitri said.
The tremor was strongly felt by people living in Padang, capital of West Sumatra.
