BN GOVT CAPABLE OF MANAGING COUNTRY'S ECONOMY
JASIN (Melaka, Malaysia), May 30 (Bernama) -- The ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government is capable of managing the country's economy well so as not tobe trapped into financial problems, said Deputy Finance Minister Awang Adek Hussin.
He said despite facing political pressure from the opposition, the BN government would not be distracted from bringing economic progress for the people.
"The problem lies with the opposition parties who make allegations against the government and promise the "moon and stars" to the people," he told reporters after opening Jasin Umno's annual convention in Merlimau near here Sunday.
Awang Adek, who is also an Umno (United Malays National Organisation, the party leading the National coalition Supreme Council member, said the government would explain to the people on any issue like the price increase in goods so that they would not be misled by the opposition.
In his speech earlier, he called on all Umno divisions to go and be near to the younger people so that they would feel their aspirations were given due attention not only by the government but also the party.
