Doha , May 29 (QNA) - HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Health will Launch on Monday May 30 the National Cancer Strategy 2011-2016 at the Sheraton Hotel.
The National Cancer Strategy is closely tied to the National Health Strategy that was launched last April; it explains the means of achieving the aspirations of medical care in the State of Qatar.
The strategy is a result of careful study of meeting the best references on the issue in the world. World-renowned Cancer surgeon and former Minister of Health in the UK Lord Darzi of Denham supervised the formulation of the strategy. Lord Denham was appointed a member in the Supreme Council of Health by the end of last year.
Hundreds of personalities, ranging from senior officials to patients and other workers in the field of medical care, contributed to the strategy through holding a series of deliberative events and surveys.
Cancer is the cause of 10% of deaths in the State of Qatar and the strategy comes to combat the disease and offer support to patients, particularly as the population will increase by 2030.
