QU Wins 64 Proposals in National Priorities Research Program
Doha, May 29 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) announced the organization s achievements in the 4th Cycle of the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP) under the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).
Speaking at a press conference, QU VP for Research Dr Hassan Al-Derham along with Director of Research Dr Moumeh Hasnah discussed details of QU winning 64 out of 145 winning proposals in the Cycle. "This amounts to grants in the amount of QR 177 million which means that QU has won 44% of the winning research proposals in the country", Dr Al-Derham said.
Based on our successes in previous NPRP cycles, QU has achieved the largest number of winning proposals funded by the Program", he stated further.
The grants were awarded for a wide range of research topics, with QU winning 30 grants in engineering and technology, Dr Al-Derham said. "We received 11 grants in natural sciences, 8 in health and medicine, 15 in humanities and social sciences, and 1 in agriculture", he added.
Dr Al Derham explained that a number of research proposals were undertaken in collaboration with external researchers while others were cooperation between Qatar University and Hamad bin Khalifa University, as well as with universities in UK, US, and Canada.
