Hyundai Engineering wins US$233 mln in orders
SEOUL, May 31 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., South Korea's top builder, said Tuesday that it has obtained a combined US$233 million worth of orders from Singapore and Iraq.
Under a $137-million deal with Aston Properties Pte., Ltd., a unit of Singapore's top property developer City Development Ltd., Hyundai Engineering will build two 24-story condominiums in the city state, the South Korean builder said in a statement.
Hyundai Engineering said it will take 31 months to complete the project, but it didn't say when it will break ground.
This is the third order that Hyundai Engineering has clinched from Singapore this year. The company won a $355 million order to build an office building in January and a $153 million order to build a subway section in May.
Another deal with the Iraqi government worth $96 million calls for Hyundai Engineering to repair an aging power station, 65 kilometers south of Baghdad, for 37 months, the company said.
Hyundai Engineering has won overseas orders worth $1.42 billion so far this year, the company said.
