Hankook Tire to supply tires to BMW

SEOUL, May 31 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's leading tire maker Hankook Tire Co. will supply tires for new cars of BMW, the company said Tuesday, becoming the first South Korean manufacturer to win a deal from the German automaker. The company said it will supply ultra-high performance Ventus Prime2 tires for BMW MINIs. "Hankook Tire will first supply its high performance tire for the MINI Cooper S and then increase its supplies to the MINI One, MINI Cooper and Cooper D produced in Europe," the company said in a press release. The company did not reveal how much the deal is worth. Hankook Tire is the world's fifth-largest tire maker in terms of production and the seventh-largest by sales.
