Tehran hosting ru-hozi performances of “Prince and Pauper”

TEHRAN, May 31 (MNA) -- Tehran’s Mehrab Hall is currently hosting the ru-hozi performance of Mark Twain’s renowned work “The Prince and the Pauper”.

Directed by dramaturge Hassan Azimi, the play is performed in the form of ru-hozi which is a theatrical performance usually accompanied by tonbak music and a rhythmic narration.

Yasser Bayat and Tahmures Amiri give live performances during the play. Hssan Azimi, Ahmad Mehrabi, Banafsheh Shahin-Mehr, Ali Sadeqi-Khah, Javad Golriz, Negar Boqrati and Nasser Shafeii are in the casts.

Hassan Azimi has directed ru-hozi performances for more than 50 years and has staged many world-renowned works in the form of ru-hozi during his career.

The play tells the tale of two boys who trade clothing one afternoon and, as a result, trade lives as well. After many adventures, matters are set right again, with one of the boys resuming his rightful, royal position and the other boy accepting a position that recognizes his innate intelligence and good heartedness.
