Kia Motors sales up 21.7 pct in May

SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Wednesday that its sales in May rose 21.7 percent from a year earlier as a large increase in overseas sales offset a slight drop in the domestic market.
The company sold 197,359 vehicles last month, compared with 162,130 vehicles sold in the same period last year.
Domestic sales dropped 5 percent on-year to 38,012 units, but exports spiked 30.5 percent to 159,347 units, keeping its overall sales growing, the company said.
