Iran's culture minister laments lack of profound films on Imam Khomeini

TEHRAN, June 1 (MNA) -- Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini believes that so far, no really outstanding cinematic production has been made about Imam Khomeini.

Hosseini accompanied by a group of ministerial directors and deputies gathered at Jamaran Hosseinieh in northern Tehran (the house of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini) to remember the name and memory of Imam Khomeini after 22 years, the Persian service of Fars News Agency reported on Tuesday.

“We are here to review once again whatever we have learned from Imam Khomeini. We learned the pure Islam. People learned the school of politics and the martyrs learned bravery,” he said

“Imam Khomeini is a role model for all people in the world. He is a model who is at the top in religion, spirituality, and morality and we should learn to be like Imam and the best in everything.

“Imam wrote many of his books when he was young and many envied him,” he added.

“But we should accept we have not introduced Imam to people as we should have. We have not produced any good movies, music or any special artwork deserving of him,” he concluded.

This is while Behruz Afkhami has directed “The Morning Son”, a biopic about Imam Khomeini which was completed in 2007, but it seems critics are not satisfied with the production.
