IMF to hold annual meeting with S. Korea

SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will start its annual meeting with South Korea's key policymakers this week to exchange views on the nation's latest economic conditions, the finance ministry said Thursday.
The 5-member team led by Subir Lall, who is in charge of the IMF's Korea division, will stay here from Thursday until June 17 for the annual meeting, according to the ministry.
During its stay, the team will have talks with officials from the finance ministry, the labor ministry, and the land and transport ministry, along with the nation's central bank and financial watchdogs, including the Financial Services Commission.
Main topics will be South Korea's current fiscal status, capital market conditions and other issues such as inflation. Discussions will also be held on the impact of the debt crisis in Europe and the earthquake in Japan on South Korea's economy, the ministry said.
The delegation plans to hold a press conference right after wrapping up the two-week meeting in order to brief Korean journalists on its discussions with government officials, the ministry noted.
