Yonhap moves headquarters to temporary location
SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news service, will temporarily move its headquarters to another location in downtown Seoul this weekend, as the incumbent office building will be reconstructed into a state-of-the-art multimedia building, the company announced Thursday.
Yonhap's headquarters will be moved from the current location in Soosong-dong, downtown Seoul, starting Friday, to the Center 1 Building located next to the Cheonggyecheon Stream in Suha-dong, also downtown Seoul, said the company.
Yonhap will be housed in Center 1 over the next two and a half years, until the new 17-story headquarters building is completed at the same Soosong-dong location in fall 2013.
The construction of the new headquarters will be a new milestone in Yonhap's history, as it will come after the company's inauguration of an all-news cable television channel late this year.
Yonhap is South Korea's largest news provider, producing content for newspapers, broadcasters, Internet portals, the government and private enterprises on a scale of about 3,000 articles per day, the largest volume by far among local news organizations.
The company said its telephone and fax numbers will remain unchanged despite the moving.
