Qatar Participates in MDGs Follow-Up Meeting in Tokyo
Tokyo, June 02 (QNA) - HE Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah stressed that the State of Qatar, thanks to the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, has been able to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the local level by focusing on the education and health sectors.
HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation made the remarks on Thursday in a Speech delivered at the opening session of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Follow-up meeting in Tokyo, co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The State of Qatar is internationally contributing to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by helping developing countries in Asia and Africa, Al-Attiyah said, noting that Qatar has hosted the Follow-up Meeting on Financing Development to achieve the MDGs in 2007.
