Kurdish official: the Kurds worry from slow implementation of article 140

Erbil (NINA) – Official spokesman of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Azad Jundiyani expressed worry of “the Kurdish leadership from the delay in implementing of constitutional article 140, regarding disputed areas.”

In a statement to NINA, Jundiyani said on Saturday that “the Kurdish political elite and people are worried about the fate of article 140 regarding disputed areas, particularly Kirkuk.”

He pointed out that “there are amendments being done now on article 140, some statements of some political powers about the legality of this article, a thing that raises worries among the Kurds.”

“The Kurdish parliament speaker Kamal Kirkuki to arrange sit-ins expressing the worry of the region from slow implementation of article 140, especially with the approach of the American forces from Iraq by end of 2011,” he concluded.
