PRESIDENT TO HOLD TELECONFERENCE WITH UN CHIEF ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Jakarta, Sept 9 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will hold a teleconference with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as well as with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen on climate change, a spokesman said.

The teleconference would take place in connection with last year's United Nation Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bali and the UNFCCC this year in Poland and in Denmark next year, presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal told reporters at a fast-breaking gathering at the palace here on Tuesday.

"The teleconference will be held at 7 pm on September 12. One of the issues to be discussed is continuation of the Bali conference which has so far been unstable," he said.

Indonesia hosted the UNFCCC in Bali on December 3 to 14 last year. Around 1,200 delegates and seven heads of state and administration attended its opening.

The main agenda of the conference was the 13th conference of the parties (COP). The Indonesian delegation was led by former environment minister Prof Emil Salim.

The important issue to be discussed is the Bali Road Map namely concrete efforts to reduce gas emissions as stated in the Kyoto Protocol.
