Qatar, Sudan Sign Customs Cooperation Agreement

Doha, June 08 (QNA) - The state of qatar and Sudan have signed an agreement on mutual administrative assistance to enable the proper application of customs law in order to prevent, investigate and combat customs crimes.
The agreement was signed on the Qatari side, by HE Director-General of the General Administration of Customs Ahmed bin Ali Al Mohannadi, while it was signed on the Sudanese side by Sudan's Director General of Customs Major General Saif al-Din Omar Suleiman.
HE the Director-General of the General Administration of Customs said that the agreement comes within the framework of cooperation between the two countries' General Administration of Customs and expressed the hope the agreement would achieve the common goals of both countries.
Al Mohannadi explained that this cooperation is aimed to combat customs smuggling, and smuggling of narcotic drugs and doping substances which pose risk to community health, pointing out however that the agreement works on the exchange of information on the dispatch of goods that constitute a danger to the customs territories of the two countries.
As per the agreement the two countries'customs departments are obliged and committed to exchange data on customs laws' amendments in the two countries, discuss all matters of common concern, cooperate to determine the customs value and document submitted documents of import and export and.
The agreement also contains provisions related to goods of a sensitive nature to ensure the exchange of necessary information which is in breach of customs law, including suspicious operations of all types of drugs and doping substances, as well as the transfer of arms, ammunition and explosive materials, in addition to the transfer of antiquities, toxic chemicals, all materials that pose a threat to the environment and the health of individuals and goods that required high customs duties.
