Qatar Olympic Committee to Honour Sports Fraternity at Season-Ending Gala

Doha, June 09 (QNA) - The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will honour the country's prominent athletes, administrators, referees and supporters at the 2010-11 season-ending gala to be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on June 21.
The end-of-the season gala is organised to recognise the fraternity's respective contribution to the advancement of the sports movement of Qatar, the QOC website said.
During the ceremony, about 29 of prominent Qatari athletes, sport figures, administrators, referees and supporters will be honoured in recognition for their work.
The QOC has completed all preparations for the closing ceremony event to be staged under the patronage and attendance of HE Sheikh Juan Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Director of QOC Public Relations and Marketing Department Abdulrahman Mosalam Al Dosari said the QOC will release a new booklet to mark the closing ceremony of the 2010-2011 sports season.
The book will include reports on winning the rights to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the preparations for 12th Arab Games to be staged in Doha in December 2011.
The booklet will highlight the success of Doha in hosting the 9th World Conference on Sport and Environment and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
The QOC will launch a link in its official website (www.olympic.qa) that will feature interviews and reports on the athletes and sport figures to be honoured during closing ceremony. (QNA)
