IRIB director meets Russian minister of communications
TEHRAN, June 11 (MNA) -- Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Ezzatollah Zarghami visited Russian Minister of Communications and Mass Media Igor Schegolev here on Thursday where they discussed joint productions.
Schegolev said that his country is ready to produce radio programs in the Persian language and that they are also willing to make joint cinema and television productions with Iran, the Persian service of MNA reported on Friday.
He also said that Russia is eager to exchange experience in technical fields with Iran.
“There is good potential here for bilateral cooperation,” Zarghami said, adding that 110 Iranian TV and radio channels are active around the world.
“The variety of ethnic groups and dialects found in both countries indicate the independence and cultural uniqueness of each one, providing a wonderful opportunity for both nations to familiarize themselves with each other. Of course mass media can play a significant role in this matter,” he said.
He also added that almost 500 cinematic and television productions are being produced in Iran every year, enabling the country to engage in more cultural exchanges with neighboring countries like Russia.
Zarghami also referred to the destructive policy of the West toward Iran through Hollywood’s cinematic productions and said this approach shows the significance and great power of Iran.
