UNRWA, RCA discuss improvement of Palestinians' quality of life
Abu Dhabi, Sep. 10, 2009 (WAM) - Peter Ford, the Representative of UNRWA's Commissioner-General in the Gulf Region and Chairman of the board of Red Crescent Authority (RCA) Dr. Ali Al-Ka'abi yesterday discussed cooperation on humanitarian issues as well as ways to further improve the Palestinian refugees' quality of life both in the occupied territories and in the Diaspora.
The meeting discussed the need for aid and development programmes and projects to provide proper housing, health, education and basic services to millions of Palestinian refugees.
Ford hailed the UAE's humanitarian efforts on the international arena and in the occupied Palestinian territories in particular.
The UAE, he remarked, played a model role in rehabilitating the Jenin Refugee Camp, Beit Hanoun, and building the Khalifa City Khan Younus. Other donors from other countries were encouraged by the UAE's generous efforts.
"For the last 10 years, RCA has been our best partner in the Arab region, Ford said.
Recently, RCA responded to the crisis and the distress of people in Gaza through the provision of food parcels composed of chickpeas, cheese, luncheon meat, and other items to 7,000 families.
