PRESIDENT STARTS 'RAMADAN SAFARI' IN E JAVA
Jakarta, Sept 10 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono started a 'Ramadan safari' on Wednesday in East Java by visiting state rolling stock making company PT INKA in Madiun.
Accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the president and his entourage arrived on Wednesday morning at Madiun's Iswahyudi military airport from where he was driven straight to the PT INKA complex.
There the president was briefed on matters relating to the company by PT INKA President Director Roos Diatmoko and then inspected the company's railway coach manufacturing plant.
In the afternoon, the head of state was scheduled to visit the Darussalam Modern Islamic Boarding School at Gontor village in Ponorogo district and attend fast-breaking get-together with local people at Jami Gontor Mosque.
After the fast-breaking function and sunset prayers, the President would take part in a "Shalat Tarawih" (non-obligatory evening prayer service during the Muslim fasting month) led by the Islamic boarding school's imam Hasan Abdullah Sahal.
On Thursday morning, the president will continue his Ramadan tour to Piyak hamlet, Sembung village in Jombang district, East Java.
At 11:30, the head of state and his entourage will leave Jombang by train for Gubeng station in Surabaya and then head to petrochemical industry PT Petrokimia in Gresik district before returning to Jakarta on Friday.
During his Ramadan tour in East Java, President Yudhoyono is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Widodo AS, acting Coordinating Minister for Economy Sri Mulyani Idrawati, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie, Minister/State Secretary Hatta Radjasa, and Communication and Information Minister Muhammad Nuh.
Besides his journey to East Java, the head of state is also scheduled to make a series of safari visits to a number of towns in West Java and Central Java and Makassar, South Sulawesi, later.
