Japan visit Seoul's chief nuclear envoy to visit Japan

Seoul's chief envoy to the six-party denuclearization talks will visit Japan this week for talks with his Tokyo counterpart, the foreign ministry here said Monday. Wi Sung-lac is scheduled to meet with Shinsuke Sugiyama during his two-day trip that begins on Tuesday, the ministry said in a press release. The nuclear negotiators plan to discuss recent developments in inter-Korean relations, North Korea's nuclear weapons programs, and share details of their recent exchanges with other member nations to the stalled six-party talks, it said. The multilateral forum, also including North Korea, China, Russia and the United States, aims to dismantle Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal through economic and political incentives. It has not been held since 2008.
