LANDSLIDE KILLS FOUR IN AMBON

Ambon, Maluku, Sept. 10 (ANTARA) - A landslide , triggered by incessant rains since late Tuesday (Sept. 9), killed at least four people in Nusaniwe sub district, Ambon, Maluku Province, on Wednesday.

Three dead bodies were found at Eri village, and one at Benteng.
The landslide also cut off land transportation and isolated Eri village from other villages in Nusaniwe.

The three victims from Eri village were employees who were about to go to their offices when the disaster struck and threw them into the sea, Jusuf Latumeten, an eyewitness, said.
"We are still searching for other victims because there is information that more victims are still buried by the landslide," he said.
At least two persons were injured in the landslide at Eri village.
Meanwhile, Agus Kaya, executive chairman of the Maluku Sports Committee (KONI) was also injured by a landslide which destroyed his house in the Westopong area, Amahusu village, Nusaniwe sub district, Ambon.
At least 18 houses were seriously damaged by landslides at Amahusu village. Tens of houses were flooded at Passo village, Baguala sub district following incessant downpours since Tuesday.
