Seoul shares open higher on Wall Street rallies

South Korean stocks opened higher on Wednesday as overnight gains on Wall Street underpinned investor sentiment, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 0.25 percent, or 5.09 points, to 2,081.92 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
On Tuesday, U.S. stock markets rebounded as the smaller-than-expected decline in U.S. retail sales figures attracted bargain hunters. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 1.03 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index added 1.48 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,081.2 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m., up 1.4 won from Tuesday's close.
