Kia Motors launches new Soul with GDI engine
Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, on Wednesday introduced a revamped version of its crossover utility vehicle Soul with a new engine that produces more horsepower than its previous model while consuming less fuel.
The new Soul comes with a 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine that produces a maximum horsepower of 140, up 13 percent from 124 horsepower produced by older versions of the engine, the company said in a press release.
The engine also improves the vehicle's fuel economy by 5 percent to 15.7 kilometers per liter, it added.
The Soul GDI also comes with improved safety features, including six airbags installed in all vehicle models and an electronic stability control system.
The car is available in two trims -- 1.6 GDI and 1.6 GDI Eco Plus with better fuel economy.
The 1.6 GDI model has a price range of 15 million won (US$13,850) to 19 million won, with the Eco Plus model priced between 16.5 million won to 19.9 million won.
