First business plan contest to launch next month

(KPL) The Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Promotion and Development Office (SMEPDO) under the sponsorship of German Technical Cooperation Programme, Human Resource Development for Market Economy (HRDME) launch the first “Business Plan Contest”.
According to a press conference held at Lane Xang Hotel yesterday, Vientiane.
The function chaired by Mr. Somdy Inmyxai, Director General of SMEPDO that drew Mr. Manfred Matzdort, Director of HRDME Programme, Mr. Manohack Rasachack, Deputy Director General of SMEPDO and representatives of International Organisation to Laos.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Somdy who said that the contest’s innovative approach as part of the Lao National SME Development strategy will help to increase the number of successful Business start-ups and to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship among young Lao people.
The 2008 Business Plan Contest aims at stimulating and nourishing the spirit of entrepreneurship in young people interested in Lao PDR. Graduate students from vocational, technical school and universities as well as other interested people are encouraged to development new ventures based on their own ideas.
The competition demands innovative and creative business ideas and aims to supporting new, independent ventures in the seed or start-up stages.
Mr Somdy urged all businesspeople have an idea to run business, you can send business plan to the SMEPDO on 10 October and closes 17 October.
The winner will be awarded 10 million kip and five congratulation prizes with two million kip award.
