Spanish Ambassador hails UAE-Spanish relations

Abu Dhabi, Sep. 11, 2008: Spanish Ambassador to the UAE Manuel Pineiro yesterday hailed the UAE-Spanish bilateral relations which have been strong thanks to the wide leadership of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Piniero made his remarks today during his visit to the UAE pavilion at the current Expo Zaragoza 2008.

He expressed admiration at the presentations given by the UAE pavilion to visitors on giant LCD screens showing the urban, environmental and agricultural progress being achieved by the country.

"The UAE has one of the best pavilions at the exhibition", he said adding that he was confident that, even before his visit, he would see on display astonishing means of getting the relevant messages across to visitors.

These efforts, he remarked, shows the keen interest of the UAE Government in its own people and land as well as its efforts to search for new resources of water and renewable energy.

The Spanish Ambassador stressed that the current talks between Spanish officials and UAE's Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways would result in launching a direct service between Dubai and Madrid in early 2009.

Meanwhile, the UAE pavilion at Expo Zaragoza 2009 is still drawing the attention of a large number of Spanish officials and commissioner generals of pavilions of participating countries.

Commissioner General of EXPO Shanghai 2010 expressed admiration at the UAE's powerful and impressive participation in the event which he said shows the UAE's ambitious search for new energy sources and water resources.

Director of Poland's pavilion said her visit to the UAE pavilion enabled her to get an overview of the aspects of life in the UAE through a short film being played there to show the UAE's efforts to face the challenge of the scarcity of water and maintain sustainable development and environmental preservation.

Meanwhile, over 70 thousand visitors have toured the UAE pavilion has toured the pavilion over the last seven days.
