Élysée keen to watch Iran's “Nader and Simin”
TEHRAN, June 19 (MNA) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy is planning to watch Iranian Golden Bear winner “Nader and Simin, a Separation” with first lady Carla Bruni at the Élysée Palace.
French presidential office has requested the international distributor to provide a copy of the movie for the special screening, the Persian service of ISNA said quoting French Europe 1 radio.
Asghar Farhadi’s award-winning movie began its world premiere in France on June 8 gracing 146 theaters across the country.
The request by the president indicates the tremendous success of the director, the report added.
A portrayal of the break-up of a marriage, “Nader and Simin: a Separation” won a Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin film festival and its cast ensemble received best actor and actress Silver Bears at the event.
Memento Films is the company in charge of international distribution of the movie in collaboration with Dreamlab.
The film is also scheduled for screening in movie theaters in Germany beginning July 14 and its next home will be Britain opening on July 22.
Italy, Norway, and Brazil will be the next hosts.
