Iran's “Molf-e Gand” wins special jury prize at Belgian festival

TEHRAN, June 19 (MNA) -- The Iranian documentary “Molf-e Gand” received the special prize of the jury at the third edition of Belgium’s Millennium International Documentary Film Festival.

The jury presented the award to “Molf-e Gand” (foreboding) by Mahmud Rahmani for being the most original and innovative film.

“Molf-e Gand” is about an Ahvazi man named Mohammad Ghadirzadeh, whose childhood is lost during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

The entire film was shot in one continuous sequence without any cuts, making it the longest sequence in the history of Iranian cinema.

Mohammad portrays voices, bombings and events which date back to his childhood during the lengthy film. “Molf-e Gand” is a term common in southern Iran meaning foreboding.

“Blood Relation” by filmmaker Noa Ben Hagai from the Zionist regime was selected best film of the festival.

The Iraqi film “War, Love, God and Madness” won the Best Message for Human Rights Award.

Documentaries by renowned filmmakers from Spain, Britain, Sweden, United States, Korea, Belgium, France and many more competed in the festival that ran from June 8-14.
