Qatar to Mark International Anti-Drugs Day Next Thursday
Doha, June 19 (QNA) -The Standing Committee on Drugs and Alcohol held a press conference on Sunday at the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, on the occasion of Qatar marking the International Anti-Drugs Day , due to be held on Thursday, June 23. The Interior Ministry observes this event every year through holding and organizing a number of various programs and seminars in order to raise community awareness of the dangers and risks of drugs with participation of a number of institutions and ministries.
Speaking at the press conference, Major Ibrahim Mohamed al Semaih, Secretary of the Standing Committee on drugs said that this year's celebrations, under the auspices of HE Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, is to feature exhibition and several events to be held at the Villaggio complex in addition to other mini-exhibitions to be staged at the Landmark, Lulu malls, and some places in Al Khor and Al Wakra.
He added that Qatar is keen to join the international community's efforts against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and spares no effort in supporting all efforts being made at regional and international level to address the drug offenses.
The main exhibition will be held at the Villagio complex - entrance (1), will last for five days with participation of some 15 governmental and private departments, from 9: am to 10:pm. The programme will include religious, social and health lectures on drug problems to be delivered by a number of scholars, specialists and social workers in this field, he said.(QNA)
