Justice Minister Reaffirms Qatar s Commitment the Rule of Law


Doha, June 20 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Justice Hassan Bin Abdulla Al Ghanim on Monday reaffirmed Qatar's commitment the Rule of Law and principles of justice and fairness.
Addressing the opening the First Gulf Judicial Conference on legal Cooperation in Cross-Border Civil and Commercial Matters, held at the Doha Sheraton Hotel, HE Al Ghanim said the State of Qatar was pleased to host this regional event on home soil.
The one-day conference, which is organized by the Qatari Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the Hague Conference on Private International Law, discusses major issues related to The Hague Convention on Protection of Children, cross-frontier protection of children, Child abduction, the International Access to Justice, International Agreements on Jurisdiction besides Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments.
By hosting such event, Qatar has so far succeeded to be an active platform aimed at enhancing the Rule of Law and promoting respect for human rights under the wise guidance of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, who seeks always to promote the legal and judicial institutions to build up a 'pioneer judiciary' and develop legal international cooperation, Al Ghanim continued.
He expressed hope that this conference would promote inter-regional co-operation between the Arab countries, the GCC member states the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
Principles meant to preserving human dignity, Family and Children's rights and preventing injustice are deeply rooted in the Islamic Sharia law, he explained.
Al Ghanim further stressed the need to maintain the international efforts meant to bridging the gap between the different legal systems .
Concluding, the Justice Minister underlined Qatar's keenness on supporting the family status, referring to the new Family Law and the ratification by the State of Qatar of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and other relevant international agreements in addition to the signing of a number of bilateral, regional and international agreements aimed at facilitating international law-enforcement and judicial cooperation.
