CPD Announces Ramadan Special Price List
Doha , June 21 (QNA) - The Consumer Protection Department (CPD) at the Ministry of Business and Trade on Monday announced a list including 267 food and daily use items that will be sold at reduced rates during the holy month of month of Ramadan 1432 Hijri.
These items will be brought under the list of "reduced prices" which will take effect from July 15 and remain in force until the end of Ramadan.
Speaking at a press conference held here, CPD Director, Sheikh Jassim bin Jabor bin Hassan al-Thani, said the department has prepared a number of initiatives, which were agreed by the Cabinet during its ordinary meeting N.23 of 2011 held on June, 8.
The Cabinet approved a draft decision by the HE the Minister of Business and Trade defining the list of "controlled prices .
The Ministry has reached a deal with Qatar Company for Meat and Livestock Trading Mawashi (QMLS), according to which the company will import 20,000 sheep to cover local market' s need from livestock at reasonable prices, he said, adding that the retail price for a 35 kg Jordanian sheep will not exceed QR800.
By July, 23, the company will allocate direct points of sale for consumers in automated abattoirs in Al Rayyan, Al Khor area and Al Shamal, CPD Director said .
The Ministry of Business and Trade will implement a number of administrative and legal price-control measures aimed at preventing any form of violation including inspection, sticking labels lists of "reduced prices" and publishing them on the local newspapers, CPD Head concluded. (QNA)
