Qatar Supports Draft on Arab Unified Customs Law
Cairo, June 21 (QNA) - Director of Legal Affairs at the General Administration of Customs Murshid Shaheen Al Kuwari has voiced Qatar's keenness on boosting the joint Arab action in all fields, especially in the economic areas to support joint projects and achieve the desired integration.
Al Kuwari in remarks to reporters on the sidelines of the third meeting of the Arab unified customs law committee, held under the chairmanship of the UAE and with the participation of experts and customs directors in the Arab states, said the committee concluded its two-day meeting on Tuesday where it discussed many issues pertaining to the draft unified customs law.
He expressed hope to see the law completed soon since there are no obstacles facing its issuance in order to establish the Arab Customs Union scheduled for 2015, and set up the Arab common market in 2020.
He added that the meeting discussed the draft unified customs law's items 145,150, 151, 174 and 177 and agreed upon them, adding that the forthcoming discussion will be on the regulations for the Law, saying the law will be a great achievement and will contribute to the establishment of the Arab Customs Union.
Al Kuwari also stressed the importance of taking advantage of the GCC customs law and its provisions in the preparation of the unified Arab customs law and the establishment of the unified Arab Customs Union, adding that the union will contribute to the establishment of an effective Arab economic bloc and will boost inter-Arab trade.
