Govt awards medals to anti-human trafficking officers
(KPL) The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare awarded medals to outstanding officials of a project, International Labour Organisation and Trafficking in Children and Women (ILO-TICW) for their work in the prevention of human trafficking in Laos for the last eight years at the International Cooperation and Training Centre (ICTC) in Vientiane on 9 September.
The Minister of Labour and Social Welfare awarded the Cross of Labour to Ms. Maria Alcestis A. Mangahas, Chief of Technical/Programme Manager and the government’s congratulatory certificate to Ms. Anna Engblom, Programme officer of ILO-TICW and also awarded to the ministry officials. The function of the project is to prevent the trafficking of women and children and ILO has been supporting it since 2001. It was operational in five provinces, Khammouane, Savannakhet, Champassak, Borikhamsay and Sayaboury.
