Japan supports rural development in Champassak

VIENTIANE,JUN. (KPL)- The handover ceremony of the project for construction of Rural Road and Bridge in Nason Village and the Sanasomboun District Hospital were held on June 22, 2011 at the Sanasomboun District in Champasack Province with the attendance of Mr. Bounleuth VOLACHITH, Chief of Sanasomboun District, H.E. Ms. Junko YOKOTA, Ambassador of Japan to the Lao PDR and the other officials concerned.
The projects for the Sanasomboun District were financed by Japan’s grant assistance worth 93,153 US dollars to construct district hospital, 81,750 US dollars to construct rural road and 48,450 US dollars to construct bridge in Nason village.
Sanasomboun district hospital is reconstructed alongside the national road No. 13. This will make it easier for local people to access to the hospital. Moreover, this hospital is expected to play more important role as local health care services by cooperating with other public health sectors in the district.
Rural road and bridge in Nason enable villagers to have better access to educational and medical services as well as local markets through the year, which will significantly improve their livelihoods.
It is expected that these projects will make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the Sanasomboun district.
