MALAYSIA, UK TO SIGN MoU TO CHECK CROSS-BORDER CRIMES
PUTRAJAYA, July 7 (Bernama) -- The Cabinet Wednesday decided that Malaysia
sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Kingdom on cooperation
in curbing cross-border crimes, Home Minister Hishammuddin Tun Hussein
said.
He said the MoU would be signed during the official visit of Prime Minister
Najib Tun Razak to the United Kingdom from July 12 to 15.
"I will sign the MoU on behalf of the Malaysian government while Home
Secretary Theresa May will sign for the United Kingdom," he told reporters.
The MoU covers, among others, organised crime, human trafficking and migrant
smuggling, falsification of documents, cyber crime and money-laundering.
Hishammuddin said the two countries would look into establishing technical
cooperation and sharing of intelligence and expertise, among others.
