STRONG EARTHQUAKE HITS KERMADEC ISLANDS IN THE PACIFIC
KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- A 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Kermadec
Islands in the South Pacific Ocean near North Island, New Zealand, at 3.03am
Thursday.
In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said the
earthquake's epicentre was 8,031km southeast of Tawau, Sabah, an East Malaysia
state.
It did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, the department said.
