INTERNET TV CHOICE OF FUTURE YOUNG GENERATION, SAYS DEPUTY MINISTER

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is the
latest choice of today's young and of the future generation to watch television
the mobile way by using their smart phones like the Blackberry and iPad.

Information Communication and Culture Deputy Minister Joseph Salang
said the development of Internet television like the IPTV was a technological
evolution where it would be competing with the traditional television for
viewers.

"Through collaboration between 1Media IPTV Sdn Bhd, a local company which
provides online news service (www.1malaysiaiptv.com) and China Central
Television (CCTV), the biggest television broadaster in China, Malaysian viewers
will have more choices in watching TV by using their smart phones."

Salang said this to reporters after launching a CCTV news and feature
service to be broadcast via www.1malaysiaiptv.com here Thursday.

Also present were Rimbunan Hijau Group chairman Tiong Hew King,
Chinese embassy in Malaysia representative Chen De Hai and CCTV vice-president
Wei Di Chun.

1Media IPTV Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of the Rimbunan Hijau Group.

Earlier, in his speech, Salang said television was still the most popular
medium to seek entertainment and education worldwide, and Nielsen, a global
marketing and advertising research company based in New York revealed recently
that global TV advertising had risen by 12 per cent.

"Therefore, I hope the collaboration between 1Media IPTV Sdn Bhd and CCTV
will create many business opportunities including advertising for Malaysia.

"Internet Protocol Television in Malaysia will be an alternative choice to
the traditional television and will be the next 'in' thing for Malaysians in
future," he said.
