FLORIA PUTRAJAYA, AN EFFORT TO MAKE PUTRAJAYA A UNIQUE PARK AND FLORAL CITY
PUTRAJAYA, July 9 (Bernama) -- The holding of the annual festival of flowers
and parks in Putrajaya, also known as FLORIA Putrajaya, is one of the efforts
towards making the nation's administrative centre a unique park and floral city.
Federal Territory and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja
Zainal Abidin said it was also a testimony of the government's seriousness and
continuous commitment by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) to attract more tourists to
Putrajaya.
He said the theme for this year's festival "Roses Are Forever" and the rose,
which symbolised love, as the theme flower, were also in tandem with efforts
taken by the government to enhance unity among the people.
"The people should love and have respect for one another among the people of
various races, ethnics, culture and beliefs," he said at the launch of the
festival by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak here Saturday.
The FLORIA Putrajaya 201, which opens Saturday and to end on July 17,
displays more than 12,000 types of roses.
Organised by PPj for the fourth time, this year's event will show off
400,000 types of flower, herb and wild plants.
It also provides an opportunity for visitors to view the uniqueness of
landscape designs and flower arrangements by foreign experts, including from
United Kingdom, the United States of America, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand,
Macau, Kenya, Pakistan, Canada and New Zealand.
This year's FLORIA Putrajaya will also include a floral floats parade which
will be held every night at the Putrajaya Lake.
The entrance to the festival, which is from 9am to 10am on Monday to
Thursday and 9am to midnight on Friday and weekends, is free.
