Iran compound women team finishes 2nd in Italy

TEHRAN, July 10 (MNA) – Iran compound women team claimed the silver medal in the World Archery Championships 2011 in Turin, Italy.

On Saturday, the Iranian team consists of Vida Halimian, Mahtab Parsamehr and Shabnam Sarlak was defeated by U.S. team 231-223 in the final match and finished at the second place.

The Iranian team beat the U.S. in the semifinals at the Antalya 2010 World Cup Stage. However, the next three encounters between the two nations turned to the advantage of the Americans, the latest being for gold in Antalya in June this year.

Elsewhere, Venezuela beat Mexico 220-215 in the bronze medal match.
