Iranian athletes win medals in Japan
TEHRAN, July 11 (MNA) -- Iran won three more medals in the 19th Asian Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan on Sunday.
Sajad Moradi claimed a silver medal in the 800m with a time of 1:46.35. He had already won the silver in the men’s 1500m. Mohammad Alazemi from Kuwait claimed the gold with 1:46.14 and Ram Ghamnda seized the bronze clocking 1:46.46.
Leila Rajabi won the bronze medal in women’s shot put with a throw of 16.60m. Meng Qianqian from China snatched the gold with 18.31m, followed by her countrywoman Liu Xiangrong with 18.30m.
Iran won the bronze in the 4x400m with a time of 3:08.58. The Iranian outfit consists of Peyman Rajabi, Ehsan Mohajer-Shojaei, Sajad Hashemi and Amin Ghelichi in the event.
Japan finished at first place with 3:04.72 and Saudi Arabia won the silver with 3:08.03.
Iran had already claimed two gold medals in the competition. Discus thrower Ehsan Hadadi won his fourth Asian title in a row and Hadi Sepehrzad seized the gold in the decathlon.
Approximately 500 athletes from 45 countries competed at the Kobe Universiade Stadium in the four-day competition.
