SABAH COLLEGE'S STUDENTS DO MALAYSIA PROUD IN PARIS

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) -- The outstanding performance of Sabah College students at the recent World Dance Cup (WDC) 2011 in Paris, is a testament that Sabah's students are capable of competing and excelling at the international level, said State Education Director Dr Muhiddin Yusin.

He said the secondary school's success in winning three gold medals and an award during the competition, should become a motivation for students and schools across Sabah to achieve excellence themselves in academic or non-academic areas.

"This school has done the Department proud and put state of Sabah and Malaysia on the global map, as far as its students capability in dancing is concerned.

"Sabah College's success story will open the eyes of all parties and boost their confidence that local schools can make a name at international events, on par with institutions from developed countries," he said during the appreciation ceremony for the achievement at the school here, Monday.

Last week, Sabah College in their debut at the WDC beat 27 other
international teams in the National Folklore Dance (Group) Category, and also recorded a double victory in the Duet/Trio category, having won gold in the Contemporary and Best Overall titles.

The choreographer for the team of eight boys and two girls, was also honored with the Best Choreography Award.
