MINISTRY TO ADOPT POPULAR APPROACH IN DISSEMINATING POLICIES - MINISTER
KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) -- The Information
Communication and Culture Ministry will adopt a popular approach in
disseminating government policies through the Information Department and the Special Affairs Department.
Its minister, Dr Rais Yatim said as such, officers from the departments, who were tasked with enlightening the people needed to master oratory skills.
"Officer from the two departments as well as that of the Broadcasting Department and Bernama should be able to use words succinctly and likable to get the people interested in the ministry's programmes," he said at the launch of the 1Malaysia Community programme and Mobile Post Office here Tuesday.
He said with good communication skills, the officers could entice the people to accept the 1Malaysia programmes and those, who fail to deliver or were not supporting government policies, did not deserve to remain with the departments.
"The will of the people also needed to be emphasised in every programme organised by the ministry to suit the village, district and division," he said.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, he said the ministry would continue to monitor dissemination of false and misleading information through blogs and news portals.
On the mobile post office, Rais said a study was being conducted on a new mode of postal service using river and sea transport in the interior of Sarawak and islands of Sabah.
Currently two mobile post office vehicles equipped with satellite
communication facilities were each placed in the interior of East Malaysia states of Sabah and Sarawak, he said, adding that five more units would be stationed in Sarawak soon.
