MALAYSIAN SHOPPERS ARE PROLIFIC PROMOTION SEEKERS, SURVEY SHOWS
KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysian shoppers are the second most prolific promotion-seekers in Asia Pacific after shoppers in Vietnam, the latest Shopper Trends Survey by Nielsen shows.
In a statement Tuesday, the global information and measurement firm said 86 per cent of the shoppers were driven by retail promotions, two of 10 would just change stores based best promotions offered and 65 per cent would actively look out for promotional items.
It said Malaysians also were the most price-sensitive shoppers in Southeast Asia.
"Thirteen per cent of hyper and supermarket shoppers in Malaysia stated that they know all the prices of the items they buy regularly. Fifty-five per cent know the prices of most items and they would also notice price changes," it added.
Across 12 countries surveyed in Asia Pacific, India has the highest
proportion of price-sensitive shoppers.
